Our Eco Council
At Greenacres, our Eco Councillors play an important role in promoting environmental responsibility and sustainability across the school.
They work collaboratively to
- share ideas
- lead initiatives such as recycling, energy saving, and gardening projects
- encourage their peers to make positive choices that care for our environment
Through their role, Eco Councillors develop leadership skills, teamwork, and a strong sense of responsibility, helping to make Greenacres a greener and more sustainable community.
We are currently developing our Greenacre's Climate & Sustainability Action Plan, aligned with national guidance and the Department for Education’s sustainability strategy. This plan focuses on four key pillars:
- adaptation and resilience: preparing for and responding to the impacts of climate change
- biodiversity and nature: protect and enhance nature and wildlife within the setting and its surroundings
- climate education and green skills: understand climate change, sustainability, and develop relevant skills
- decarbonisation and net zero: measure and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, working towards net zero
Our Climate Action Plan reflects our commitment to caring for the environment and empowering our children to make a positive difference. Through eco-friendly initiatives, pupil leadership and everyday sustainable choices, we encourage our school community to reduce our environmental impact and develop lifelong habits that support a greener future.
I like being an Eco Councillor because it gives me opportunities to work with the environment and help.
I like being on the Eco Council, I want to encourage people to take care of the environment.
